MME Testing is engaged in nondestructive and laboratory testing and failure analysis of metals. The company was originally organized in 1998 by a regional geotechnical firm expanding into nondestructive testing. In 2001 the NDT division was spun off as Metals and Materials Engineers. In May 2014 Durham Holdings, Inc. purchased certain assets and renamed the company MME Testing.
MME Testing operates under a quality assurance program ISO/IEC 17025:2005, ISO 9001:2015, NQA-1, A2LA Accredited. Nondestructive testing procedures are performed in strict accordance with industry standards. Some of the most frequent procedures include X-ray and gamma radiography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant.
MME Testing is a service only company with four main components:
- Laboratory Testing of Metals – includes physical and chemical testing of metals. Laboratory testing of metals usually imply destructive testing or chemical analysis to determine physical properties or composition. Physical strength tests performed on test specimens include tensile, impact and Rockwell hardness testing. Microstructure analysis and metal identification via optical emission spectrometry is supplemented with standard microscopic capability.
- Corrosion Testing of Automotive Components – the corrosion resistance testing of coated materials of under-hood and under-body components. The backbone of this capability centers on six environmental chambers capable of performing salt spray, cyclic corrosion, or constant condensation testing. Two chambers are capable of performing cyclic testing while maintaining tight control on relative humidity and temperature. A wet chemical laboratory is used for preparing test solutions. The customer base for this business is centered in those regions engaged in producing automotive components such as Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Ohio.
- Non-Destructive Testing and Field Inspection – are performed by Level II and III technicians. Major test types include radiography, ultrasonic, dye penetrant, magnetic particle, and Eddy current. The majority of this business segment is conducted in metro Atlanta, but MME will accept distant projects if the scope of work is sufficient.
- General Aviation NDT Testing – A number of service companies provide owners of private and corporate jets recertification. Certified Inspection Service, LLC is contracted by the recertification service companies for nondestructive testing of critical structural components of the aircraft primarily using portable radiography and ultrasonic equipment at the airport facility housing the aircraft. Most of this work is performed within 200 miles of metro Atlanta, but often testing is performed at other locations in the US such as Texas and Illinois.
